Dendrometer for radius measurement – DR
The DR series dendrometers are used for highly precise and continuous measurement of tree diameter changes. These dendrometers are suitable for long-term outdoor use. Due to their extremely low power consumption, Ecomatik dendrometers are ideal for battery-powered solutions, such as in IoT applications. The DR dendrometer is specifically designed for trees with medium to very large diameters (> 8 cm; or DC3, > 5 cm). The DR dendrometer is mounted with one (DR3, DR3W) or two special screws (DR1, DR2, DR1W) anchored into the tree. Changes outside the tree’s woody mass correspond to radial growth and daily variations in tree diameter, which are linked to the tree's water status. The screw mounting ensures exceptional stability for long-term measurements with minimal maintenance.
The DR dendrometer is available in five different versions:
- DR1: Standard mounting frame with a measurement range of 11 mm for slow and average-growing species
- DR1W: Hermetically sealed for durability in extreme environmental conditions (under snow, underwater, exposed to dust and corrosive materials), with a standard mounting frame and a measurement range of 11 mm
- DR2: Standard mounting frame with a larger measurement range of 25 mm for fast-growing species
- DR3: Quick-mounting frame with one screw, suitable for tree diameters >5 cm, with a measurement range of 11 mm
- DR3W: Hermetically sealed for extreme environmental conditions, quick-mounting frame with one screw, suitable for tree diameters >5 cm, with a measurement range of 11 mm
ADVANTAGES

Specific to the DR2 model:
- Extended measurement range; reduced maintenance effort (i.e., longer intervals between frame adjustments) for fast-growing species.
Specific to the DR3 and DR3W models:
- Quick-mounting frame with one screw
- Suitable for tree diameters >5 cm
Specific to the DR1W and DR3W models:
- Hermetically sealed to withstand extreme weather conditions, such as high humidity, underwater, beneath snow cover, near the ground surface, or increased exposure to dust or corrosive materials (e.g., coastal sand, volcanic ash).

- Standard cable length of 5 m: ends without a connector or with a stereo plug for Mini System logger options
- Cable extension up to 100 m
