Dendrometer for Measuring Smaller Diameters – DD-S

The DD-S series dendrometers are used for high-precision, continuous measurement of changes in tree diameter. These dendrometers are suitable for long-term use in outdoor conditions. Due to their exceptionally low power consumption, Ecomatik dendrometers are ideal for battery-powered solutions, such as IoT applications. The DD-S dendrometers are specifically designed for small trees, branches, and agricultural plants (diameter less than 5 cm). The optimized mounting system allows for stable installation without exerting excessive pressure on the measurement point. As a result, DD-S dendrometers provide stable readings even on very small and herbaceous plants.

The DD-S dendrometer is available in 3 different versions:

• DD-S1: with a standard mounting frame

• DD-S2: with a quick-mounting frame

• DD-S2W: with a quick-mounting frame and hermetically sealed to withstand extreme environmental conditions (under snow cover, underwater, increased exposure to dust and corrosive substances)

Advantages

• Suitable for small trees, branches, and agricultural plants with a diameter of less than 5 cm
• Lightweight sensor
• Plants do not have to bear the weight of the sensor (additional support required for very small and delicate plants)
• Installation without damaging the plant, minimal pressure on the plant
• Stability against wind, snow, falling branches, and fruits

Specific to the DD-S2 and DD-S2W models:

• Quick-mounting frame for fast, easy, and tool-free installation of the measurement point

Specific to the DD-S1 and DD-S2 models:

• Not suitable for extreme environmental conditions (e.g., high humidity, underwater, snow cover, close to the ground, increased exposure to dust or corrosive substances – see the DD-S2W model)

Specific to the DD-S2W model:

• Hermetically sealed to withstand extreme environmental conditions: e.g., high humidity, underwater, snow cover, close to the ground, increased exposure to dust or corrosive substances (e.g., coastal sand and salt deposits, volcanic ash)

Limitations of the DD-S Series

• Not suitable for diameters greater than 5 cm (see the DD-L model)
