Soil moisture and temperature sensor (WP4)

Soil Moisture and Temperature Sensor WP4 combines the patented Watermark probe with integrated electronics developed by Pinova d.o.o.. Once installed in the soil, it exchanges water with its surroundings (the soil) and reaches equilibrium with it.

The soil moisture sensor, using its integrated electronics, converts the resistance between electrodes into an output voltage that is temperature-compensated and directly proportional to the soil water tension.

WHEN TO START IRRIGATION?

0 – 10 cb = Soil well saturated with water

10 – 30 cb = Soil contains an adequate amount of water for normal plant growth and development
(except in sandy soils, where water deficit may begin to occur around 30 cb)

30 – 60 cb = Typical range indicating the need for irrigation
(except in heavy soils)

60 – 100 cb = Typical range indicating the need for irrigation in heavy soils

100 – 200 cb = Soil becomes too dry for maximum yields
